View Full Version : Poem Written for Me by a Friend

April 8th, 2004, 09:44 PM
I'm posting this with the permission of my friend, Dominique Schwartz. He has a 4 year old son, Brendon who for the longest time didn't talk and all and knows just how I've felt for a few years now about Dylan, but am grateful now it's not as applicable. I thought I'd share it all with you.

I cannot speak or tell you what I want though I try with all my might
In silence I live, with so many things to tell you that I feel
You care for me and comfort me when it seems all are against me
I struggle to do things for myself and fail but you are there to
Help me when I do, you show me in so many ways that I cannot count
Your Love and compassion for me and how I am wishing I could be more
Patience I wear out with my struggles, trying to tell you what I feel
Trying to make you proud of me with all my might, though I am not yet
Grown and have a long ways to go, you are the one that I know will be
There when I fall, or skin my knee. Or if I am hungry or lonely you
Are there for me without asking for anything in return. Oh how I wish
I could tell you this in words you'd understand, but I know deep in my
Heart that you know my love for you is there, and wish I could say these
Simple words, "I Love you Mom!"

Hi Mish, I was just saying today one of the hardest things with Will is he can't tell me whats happened in his day -like at school- or if he goes to our childminder! I have to trust everyone so much! Of course when he is with me he shows me his wants and feelings through his lovely eyes and gestures -so your poem expressed how I was feeling today :) Thankyou Love Laura

The poem is beautiful, and also hits close to home for me because of Christopher.
Thanks for posting it.
